Early check-in is subject to availability and an early check-in fee.
A valid federal or state-issued photo ID is required at check-in.
No refunds will be issued after 15 minutes of check-in. If the room is unsatisfactory, please inform the front desk immediately so alternate arrangements can be made (subject to availability).
A deposit may be charged for reservations made with cash. The deposit is fully refundable at check-out, provided there are no visible property damages or losses.
No room changes are allowed after 10 minutes of check-in.
A valid credit or debit card may be required during the check-in process.
Reservation date changes and room type changes after booking are subject to availability and any applicable rate differences.
Acceptable Payment Mode Policies
A valid credit or debit card is required to book a reservation.
Free cancellation is available up to 7 days prior to the arrival date.
The credit or debit card provided will be automatically charged for the full amount of the stay after the free cancellation period ends. If the card is declined for any reason, the reservation will be automatically cancelled and the room released. Management will not contact the guest for alternate payment arrangements.
Reservations made within seven (7) days of arrival will be charged in full and are non-refundable.
Guests arriving late must contact the reservation desk prior to 6:00 p.m. on the arrival day to arrange late check-in.
For your convenience, deposits toward your stay may be made in advance. Reservations with a deposit can be cancelled within the free cancellation period with a $50.00 cancellation fee.
In the event of a mandatory evacuation, all reservations will be automatically cancelled with a full refund. No other weather-related cancellations are permitted after the free cancellation period ends.
Refunds may take 7–10 business days to appear on your credit card account.
Hatteras Island Inn cannot cancel or modify reservations made through third-party booking agencies. Guests must contact the booking agency directly for any changes, modifications, or cancellations.
The credit or debit card used to make the reservation cannot be changed.
Early check-out: the full stay amount will be charged. No refund will be issued for early check-out.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
We accept cash payments.
We do not accept virtual credit card payments.
Discounts & Promotions Policies
Hatteras Island Inn may occasionally offer discounts and promotions through our website or other digital and print media. We reserve the right to discontinue any discount or promotional offer at any time without notice.
Discount offers are not available during peak season (May–October). Management reserves the right to revoke any discount offers at its discretion, without providing a reason.
Maintenance Policy
If you have a maintenance request, please contact the front office.
Plungers and basic troubleshooting tools are available at the front desk.
While every effort is made to provide 24/7 on-site maintenance staff, the hotel does not guarantee such availability.
Hotel Imagery & Digital Content Policies
Room type and amenity photos displayed on our website and third-party OTA sites may not always accurately represent the actual room amenities, layout, or décor. Rooms undergo renovations and remodeling based on demand, and images may vary from the assigned room. While we make every effort to keep property images up to date, the hotel cannot be held liable for any discrepancies.
Guests have the right to visually inspect their room upon check-in. If you have any concerns or issues with the assigned room, you must notify the front office staff immediately (within 15 minutes of check-in). Staff will make reasonable efforts to resolve the issue or issue a refund, subject to availability and hotel policy.
Smoking/Drug Use/Prohibited Behavior Policies
This is a smoke-free facility, except in designated outdoor areas. A $250.00 room restoration fee will be charged for smoking inside guest rooms.
The hotel reserves the right to evict any person who is intoxicated by alcohol or drugs and causes a disturbance inside or outside the rooms. No refunds will be issued in such cases.
This is a drug-free property. Any violations will result in immediate eviction with no refunds.
Prostitution, solicitation, photographing, or any unwelcome advances toward other guests or employees on the premises are strictly prohibited.
Noise Policy
Please do not play loud music in cars while parked on the property. We request you to respect everyone's right to peace and harmony. Any person found disturbing the general peace will be evicted with no refunds.
On-premises Photography & Filming
Commercial photography or filming is not allowed unless authorized by the hotel management.
Housekeeping Policy
Housekeeping service is available upon request during stay.
Guest Visitor Policy
Any guest visitors may not stay overnight in rooms unless prior permission from the front office has been obtained. A fee will be charged for undeclared extra guests residing on property.
Safety Equipment Tampering Policy
Please do not tamper with the in-room smoke alarms. If you feel that the batteries on your smoke alarm need replacement, please inform the front desk office.
Please do not hang items on the fire sprinklers.

If you or an accompanying guest experiences a medical emergency, please dial 911 immediately.
The nearest 24-hour hospital is The Outer Banks Hospital, located approximately 49.3 miles away at 4800 S. Croatan Hwy, Nags Head, NC 27959. Phone: 252-449-4500.
In case of a fire emergency, dial 911 immediately and follow the hotel’s fire safety and evacuation procedures.
Fire exits and floor plans are posted on the back of guest room doors.
Cash Policy
Cash is accepted only for room charges and applicable taxes.
A valid credit card is mandatory at check-in for incidentals, damages, and security, even if the guest intends to pay the room charges in cash.
The card must be in the registered guest’s name and presented with a government-issued photo ID. Cards or IDs in another person’s name will not be accepted.
A pre-authorization hold will be placed on the card. If the card cannot be authorized, the reservation may be refused or cancelled, regardless of cash on hand.
No cash refunds will be issued under any circumstances.
Any approved refund will be returned only to the original method of payment or, at management’s sole discretion, issued by check or card.
Management reserves the right to refuse cash payments or decline service to any guest who does not fully comply with this policy.
