The Hatteras Island Inn in Buxton, NC is located in a quiet, serene village in the Outer Banks. However, you may be surprised at the number of activities and attractions that are within a short walk or drive from your room. You can visit the historic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, now open for tours after a widely publicized relocation. If sport fishing is your passion, you can't do much better than the waters off of Cape Hatteras. You can also visit the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum in Hatteras Village, and learn about the shipwrecks that earned this area such a morbid moniker. More than 70 percent of the island is in its natural barrier island state, thanks to Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge.
